BKL into 3D printing
With our brand new Felix Pro 2 3D printer we are able to do some great things. Amongst all we now can optimize our ideas and concepts for brainstorm and review sessions, introducing new production techniques for customer specific product solutions and, last but not least, create great giveaways for our customers; a scale model of the just received product.
So this is what it will look like….
BKL’s strength is the development and manufacturing of fully functional, stand-alone products based on customer needs. Therefore every product starts with the generation of ideas, concepts and designs, in close cooperation and reviewed with our customers. To optimize brainstorm and review sessions we print 3D models, as functional as possible, to visualize these new concepts and ideas. Nothing works better than holding physical models in your hand during discussions on form, fit and function. Especially specialists in other fields than Engineering benefit from these physical models and gain the required insights to properly evaluate the concepts and ideas.
Great for in (y)our “Hall of Fame”
That’s what our customers will say when they receive a 3D printed scale model of the product they just received. These models will be great looking giveaways, supporting the delivery of the physical products.
And also our own “Hall of Fame” will be filled. The portfolio of products that have been developed and manufactured by BKL in the past 35 years is tremendous, containing over 200 newly designed different products. From apparently simple hoist beams to complex cleanroom module swap robots. For presentation purposes, in the hall of fame in our office’s lobby and for our boots at different fairs, we are now 3D printing a representative set of scale models.
Quick prototyping and new designs
3D printing opens up new ways of modeling and designing of our products and we now begin our journey to discover the possibilities.
BKL stands for product safety in all aspects. Replacing known and proven technology of designing in metal by alternatives, like 3D printing, will take lots of research and testing. For now we are only looking at possibilities to 3D print non-structural parts like shields and covers resulting in better looking products. And a safe product that also looks and feels safe to use is a plus.
To quickly build up experience with our Felix Pro 2, a team of 3 BKL engineers and a graduate student are assigned to discover the do’s and don’ts of our printer.
Are you interested in a scale model of a BKL product? Don’t hesitate to order a design&manufacturing project with us and you will receive your scale model at the delivery of your custom designed product.
