How to ensure machine safety?
Do you have a machine that you want to put on the market, or do you have a machine that you want to use yourself? Then this machine should be safe for the people working on it or with it. Question is how do you ensure the machine’s safety. This all starts by performing a risk-assessment and risk reduction.
A risk assessment and risk reduction method is described in NEN-EN-ISO 12100:2010. It is a process to identify all the risks of a machine and to reduce these risks adequately, so the users of the machine can use the machine safely.
Though the process itself is logical and easy to understand, many companies still struggle when they need to apply it for their specific situation. It is not something that they deal with on a day to day basis.
BKL Engineering has expertise in and a long track-record of doing risk assessments and reduction for all kinds of machinery. We can assist you with:
Explaining the risk assessment and reduction process in your own specific application
Facilitating the risk assessment and reduction process in your organization
Defining pragmatic solutions for risk reduction problems
Determining whether adequate risk reduction has been achieved
Documenting the entire risk assessment and reduction process
If you want more information on how to do a risk assessment or if you need assistance with doing a risk assessment, please contact BKL.
