Introducing new Engineering Manager
Let’s introduce myself. My name is Raymond van As and in January 2020 I got the opportunity to start as Manager Engineering & Projects at BKL. For me, it has been an easy decision to step into this new challenge as BKL has all ingredients for a bright future: unique service proposition, in-depth technical capabilities, unique combination of both engineering and realization competencies, strong partnership within the Anvil group, and last but not least, a warm and pro-active team!
My background is quite diverse, which will enable me to add value to the growing business of BKL. I started my career at the TU/e Mechanical Engineering. After 3 years developing hip and knee prostheses at the academic hospital Radboud, I learned that I was more interested in high-tech industry. I wanted to work in an environment where research and development results in tangible results: PRODUCTS! I started to work for Philips CFT/Applied Technologies as a mechanical engineer and finished 15 years later as director of the Materials Technology group. Next step, I worked as R&D director for a SME Vostermans Ventilation, with full responsibility for research, product development, engineering and industrialization. After 6 years, my next role was Sr. Program Manager at Dorel (Maxi- Cosi), responsible for NPD (New Product Development) projects of car seats in Europe and managing projects with full scope (concept till market launch), in a marketing driven B2C company. In this role, I practiced several practical project management techniques like Scrum and Obeya. After several successful product launches, it was time to go back to the high-tech industry again, and preferably an agile company: BKL!
After two months working for BKL, the first impression exceeds my expectations. Of course, there is always room for improvement, and with all my working experience, I hope I can add a meaningful contribution to the further growth of BKL.
I look forward to meet you in the future at BKL in Nuenen.
