Cost Engineer
Job Description
Are you an analytical thinker with a sharp eye for cost structures and manufacturing processes? Do you want to play a key role in estimating and controlling project costs in a dynamic environment? Then this Cost Engineer position is exactly what you are looking for.
As a Cost Engineer, you are responsible for estimating project costs and actively contributing to the control of the financial aspects of projects. You develop and maintain cost models, perform analyses, and work closely with various departments to realise cost-efficient solutions. You will be part of the Sustaining & Production Engineering department.
Your responsibilities
Cost estimating:
- Develop and maintain knowledge of cost drivers and cost models.
- Perform cost calculations for customer enquiries based on modelling and actual cost data.
- Maintain historical cost data and benchmark data.
- Compare costs from external suppliers with internal data and industry standards.
- Support value engineering projects and strategies during the RFQ process.
Cost control:
- Report regularly on cost status and variances (VC/NC analysis).
- Analyse variances and advise on cost control measures.
Risk analysis:
- Identify and assess financial risks and opportunities within projects.
- Develop strategies for cost optimisation.
Collaboration and communication:
- Work with account managers, project managers, designers/engineers and purchasing teams to find cost-effective solutions.
- Support the determination of cost and sales prices and contribute to company strategies.
What you bring
- Education: Completed higher professional education (HBO) in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field.
- Experience: At least 5 years’ experience in cost engineering is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with cost estimating software, ERP, 3D CAD, PLM and project management tools.
- Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
- Languages: Excellent command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
